I tore, but it's pretty much the same thing. It hurt to pee for about 2 weeks.
Mine hurt for about 6 weeks, couldnt even think about sex for about 10 weeks though. I did get sharp pains but i wasnt taking hte sitz baths like i was suppose to because the doctor didnt explain what they were. They told me not to take baths but sitz baths and i was just confused. I used a little neosporin with pain relief on the stitches, the doctor told me it was ok and it helped it start to heal faster. Plus you really need the sitz baths for he stitches so you dont heal too tight. I healed too tight and my doctor had to stretch out my stitches so i wouldnt be in pain. Episiotomies are not fun and are even said to be worse for recovery than c sections because of the location. Also TMI but make sure you are having regular bowel movement because if you dont it will lead to constipation if you are on pain meds or anything. I ended up having to get an enema because my pain meds made me constipated. Good luck and im sorry for your pain and Grats for the baby :P.
It could take up to 6 weeks for it it to heal. Some heal faster than others but I think mine was healed completely between 6-8 weeks. If there is any suspicious discharge or smell see your dr. but it should be fine. Sitting in very hot water is soothing, I took Motrin, and sprayed benzocaine on it. All of those things really helped me
