This one could go either way. Either Chavez will win by unanimous decision or Arguello by late round KO. Chavez doesn't punch as hard as Pryor so Alexis might go the distance with him. In the Pryor fight, Alexis land a humongous right hand in the 14th round,I believe, a punch that people say would of drop most fighters. I am not sure Julio has as good a chin as Aaron Pryor.
Brent ~ Great fight! Truly two gentlemen of the ring. I honestly think that these two would fight to a draw the first time they met and I think they would have a trilogy with the likings to Ali vs Frazier, I would have said Gatti vs Ward but Julio and Alex in their primes were so much better than those two. After their first fight they would need ample time to recover, their second fight would take place over a year later Chavez would pummel Arguello's body while eating many of Arguellos legendary straight right hands. Chavez would eek out a close but unanimous decisions, the third fight would be much like the second. Taylor, Camacho, Haugen Jakabowski, Randall and Whitaker were never the same after they fought Chavez in their primes and although Alexis is a class act and a great fighter Chavez was just that much better.
Aaron Pryor was one of the best pressure fighters of his era and he gave Alexis Arguello loads of trouble. If there was a better pressure fighter than Pryor, it was Chavez.
Arguello was a class act, and one of the most polished ring technicians in history, but I just don't see Arguello being able to keep Julio off him long enough to out box Chavez. Julio Cesar Chavez was a relentless force of nature in his prime. and Arquello wouldn't have lasted the distance with Chavez any more than he did with Pryor.
Chavez had a jaw of granite and would have been able to take Arguello's best punch. I think the fight would have ended much like the Pryor fights with Chavez breaking down Arguello over the course of the fight and winning by late TKO say round 14.
In his prime, Chavez just seem virtually unbeatable in every way. Well, actually he was just that, until his first lost to Frankie Randall. Despite the fact Randall gave Chavez his first knockdown, Chavez could have easily won the fight, if it wasn't for the two damaging point deductions. Anyway, Chavez was basically the perfect pressure fighter around. He would have been too much for Arguello.

In Julio Caesar Chavez's prime, he'll win... he was a great, and smart fighter... arguello had power, but not as smart as jcc
UMM Julio cesar chavez alll the way :P
chavez takes the money
at 140 pounds? i go with chavez outpointing arguello.
at 135? it would be much closer, but chavez would fight him like he did rosario........keeping it at close quarters throughout.
no doubt about it Chavez would get the TKO
