okay, so i got my nose pierced yesterday and its red around it but it's not really sore.. ive been doing hot water compresses twice daily and i wanted to know if i can put some mercuroclear on it? will this infect it or do something to the jewelry? please help. by the way, mercuroclear is a antiseptic, anesthetic.. or a safe alternative to iodine.

No i wouldn't recommend this, it will probably just irritate the skin. just do the proper cleaning instruction below, and do not change it for 4-6 weeks.

~Always Wash Hands Before Touching a Piercing.~
-Non-Iodized Sea Salt (Not table salt) Mix in warm water.
You can Blot with a clean cotton ball, use a Q-tip, or Pour over Piercing.
-Wash with Unscented Antibacterial Soap (Such as Dial)
-It's not necessary to excessively move the jewelry, only move it enough to thoroughly clean the jewelry & area and then leave it alone till next cleaning.
Repeat above steps 3x a day.
Do NOT use things such as alcohol, mouth wash, peroxide, etc. this will only irritate skin and prolong healing.
