Why does it seem everyone thinks the Menendez brothers killed their parents in self defense?
Erik's attorney Leslie Abramson previously defended a client who murdered his father with the same excuse of child abuse. She also told Erik's psychologist to take out parts of her doctor's notes, including a part where Erik and Lyle talked about life without parents.
Why did they spend $700,000 in the time before they were caught, going so far as to buy freaking restaurants if they weren't interested in the money? Why did Erik write a story about someone who kills their parents for the insurance money?

They are doing life and are in separate prisons, they will never be getting out. They got what they deserve. Some people may have sympathized because they believe their stories of abuse. Nothing justified their conduct. It was nothing short of cold blooded premediated murder.
Self defense was raised, but it does not work when you raise it years later claiming your psyche was damaged. It was before the battered woman syndrome came about as a theory. Even that does not work most of the time.
I believe there was abuse. I do not believe it was self defense.
It is not unusual for the defense to present several possible scenarios when you are facing life in prison. Apparently "everyone" didn't think it was self defense because the 12 jurors found him guilty.
I don't know who you think believes that, but I have never heard ANYONE even claim that was a SLIM possibility.
This is a very serious question. Why post it in Polls & Surveys? There must be a category for trials and attorneys, or injustices of the Law in courts in the United States. .
